Siri ported on iPhone 4, 3GS and iPod Touch 4G

Siri represents the most important feature that the iPhone 4S brought to us. Back then, precisely a year ago, people owning older devices were quite disappointed by the fact that they cannot use Siri on their devices. However, that was only a matter of time before Siri became available on A4-based devices. Another aspect I want to mention, is the fact that back then, along with the release of Siri and iPhone 4S, the iOS 5 was released. So, Siri was prepared to be ported on A4-based devices running on iOS 5.

These days, when the iOS 6 was released, users upgrade to the new firmware and they definitely want Siri back on their devices.

If you want to install Siri on iPhone 4, 3GS or iPod Touch 4th gen running on iOS 6, here is what you need to do.

First, you need to prepare your device. You need to jailbreak it by using one of all those tools available. Secondly, you need to backup your device and your files in order to prevent an error. Take into consideration the fact that if you want Siri on iPhone 3GS/4 or iPod running on iOS 6, you will perform a tethered jailbreak and you need to use the jailbreak tool each time you reboot.

Step 1: Open Cydia and add the SiriPort repo to it.

Step 2: Search for SiriPort (original) iOS 6 package. Download it on your device and install it.

Step 3: Go to Settings app and search for the certificate files. Click on Install Certificate in order to receive answers from Siri.

Step 4: After you complete these two tasks, you need to reboot your device. Since you are using a tethered jailbroken device, you need to use Redsnow or Absinthe in order to reboot in a jailbreak mode.

You now have successfully ported Siri iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS or iPod running on iOS 6. Remember that Siri will not work as great as the original feature that we can find on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 or iPad 3rd and 4th generation, but we have nothing else to say.

Get Siri with the help of Spire

We are all familiar with the famous voice recognition assistant presented by Apple along with their latest iPhone. The most prominent feature for iPhone 4S is Siri, the intelligent assistant. Users with older iOS devices are eager to use Siri on their iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 2nd generation or iPod Touch.  This thing is now possible with the help of Spire tweak. This allows you to install Siri on your device and use it as if you have an iPhone 4S. However, porting Siri on an older device is not that easy. It takes a lot of patience

Spire tweak works pretty easy if you know what it is about. First, Siri works by sending a request to Apple Servers in order to receive Authentication key, which are generated only for iPhone 4S. On the other hand, Spire creates a fake server that acts pretty much as the Apple Server.

In order to have access to such key, you need to pay for a server. Either there are some free servers available, but there are overloaded or they do not work. If you find a good server, it is worth paying the annual fee. Another alternative is to use the Google API Server. This does not offer you full support for Siri, but it does a great work with dictation. After you install Spire and you find a good server to sustain the whole process, you are free to use Siri as your personal assistant. Once you have full access over Siri, you have the possibility to install various tweaks related to it. Your possibilities will increase with any Cydia tweak you install. Once you have Siri on your iPhone 4/3GS, iPad 1st and 2nd generation, iPod 3rd and 4th generation, your options are multiple. You can use it in order to search for directions, to find locations, to call your contacts and to write texts. With the right Cydia tweak, you will be able to toggle on or off various system features such as Bluetooth, WI-Fi, Airplane Mode or to adjust brightness.

Spire is the only alternative we have at this moment in order to install Siri on our old iOS devices. I know that is pretty complicated for some of you to find a good proxy server and to download Spire. All we have to do is to hope for a quicker Cydia tweak that will help us to get Siri on our devices without any trouble.
